I was getting bored to draw textures pixel by pixel every time I needed patterns to be incorporated into graphic layouts.
I came along with the idea to use 8x8 pixel fonts so as to have the everyday basic patterns ready. It resulted to be used more often than expected.

Today Fontastica shares some of these pixel patterns, from 8x8 pixels to 16x16 pixels. The use is the same as for pixel fonts. It can also fit flash projets
